The Paramedic Field Supervisor is a licensed professional who assists the Ambulance Manager, Director of Emergency Services with the coordination and supervision of the day-to-day ambulance service operations. Must work collaboratively with MedCom. Must have a well-developed understanding and experience of system-wide EMS operations as well as clinical skill and judgment and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must collaborate with the sending/receiving facilities to support the interface of pre-hospital with the hospitals we serve.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum

  • Hazardous Materials training to the First Responder Operations Level prior to the conclusion of department orientation

Desired

  • Five years’ experience in the pre-hospital setting
  • Leadership and preceptor experience
  • A.S. degree in health-related field

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Currently licensed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority as a Paramedic
  • Accredited by the Sierra Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services to function as a Paramedic in the region.
  • Current CPR recognition
  • Current ACLS recognition
  • Current PALS or Handtevy Prehospital Pediatric Provider recognition within 6 months of hire
  • Current AMLS (within 6 months of hire) (current Enloe employees have until 9/1/2024 to obtain) (tracked by dept)
  • PHTLS within 6 months of hire (tracked by dept)
  • EVOC within 6 months of hire (tracked by dept)
  • California driver’s license with ambulance driver’s certificate to include medical exam certificate (HR collects & sends to compliance upon hire and then tracked by dept)
  • Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21)
  • The employee will obtain the following certifications within 24 months (tracked by department):
    • S-330 Strike Team and Task Force Leader
    • S-339 Division and Group Supervisor
    • R-150 Management of EMS
    • R-151 Advanced Leadership Issues in EMS
    • NAEMD Certification
  • Course instructor for at least one of the following: CPR, ACLS, AMLS, PHTLS, Handtevy, PALS or Stop the Bleed within 12 months of hire (tracked by dept) (current Enloe employees have until 9/1/2024 to obtain)
  • ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, ICS 700 and ICS 800 within 6 months of hire (current Enloe employees have until Feb 29, 2024 to obtain this) (tracked by dept)

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to work effectively with peers, other departments, first responders and the public using good interpersonal skills, discretion and diplomacy. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position. Within six months of appointment the employee must have practical knowledge of basic ambulance billing, basic ambulance billing guidelines, private insurance billing guidelines and private pay requirements. They must also have an understanding of Medcom functionality to include: CAD system, the Radio System and posting and standardized response plan.
