Job Description

The Fire and Safety team is thrilled to announce the search for a highly qualified and experienced Paramedic for a long-term project in the stunning Cocos Islands, operating on a 2:2 roster. This position is a 100% standalone role, requiring candidates with proven experience as remote medics, with military or similar background highly desirable.

Applicants must be based in Western Australia. and able to fly ex Perth Via provided charter flight.

Working on an island comes with its perks - accommodation and meals are provided, and travel to and from the site is compensated. The role offers a competitive pay rate of $70 per hour on a maximum term contract, with the possibility of transition to a permanent role with FSA.

Role Details:

• Provide full-time medical support to Project personnel, reporting to the IMC Health and Safety Manager

• Manage and care for injured or unwell personnel, recommending medivac when necessary

• Conduct Fitness for Work testing and hydration testing

• Assist with Return to Work and Injury Management processes and contribute to incident & emergency response plan implementation

• Provide pre-hospital and on-island patient care

• Offer interim medical care for minor ailments

• Maintain medical supplies and equipment along with ensuring safety equipment functionality

• Provide injury prevention advice.

• Report and record incidents and injuries along with return to work and injury management

• Conduct first aid and risk assessments.

• Identify hazards and improvement opportunities

• Manage ambulance vehicle and medical consumables

• Maintain First Aid kits/stations.

• Complete statutory legal reporting and project requirements.

• Provide access to 24/7 Telehealth services and utilise WI-Fi applications for communication

Qualifications:

• AHPRA Registered Paramedic with no restrictions

• Experience in remote medical care in a standalone capacity

• Experience in setting up and running a new construction medical centre

• Proficiency in first aid and medical equipment management

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work autonomously

• Familiarity with incident reporting and safety protocols

• Understanding of drug and alcohol testing procedures

• Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements in medical care

• Adaptability to remote island conditions
