Position Summary

Parker Poe is seeking a Professional Negligence and Product Liability Paralegal to join our firm and play an integral role in a sophisticated litigation practice that represents clients in disputes involving municipal liability, personal injury, property damage and liability, product liability, insurance coverage, mass tort and toxic tort claims, professional malpractice, and other complex civil and commercial matters. In this role, you will serve as a key member of the litigation team.

This full-time position is based in the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina office. Opportunities for overtime and work outside of routine business hours may be available to support litigation and trial demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Case Management and Litigation Support

  • Partner with attorneys to drive complex civil litigation matters through every stage of the case lifecycle, from initial filings and discovery through trial and appellate proceedings.
  • Review, organize, and summarize medical records, billing documentation, and other case materials, leveraging AI-enabled and other technology tools where appropriate to transform complex information into clear insights that support litigation strategy and case preparation.
  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Coordinate document collection, review, and production to support discovery, including eDiscovery and case development.
  • Conduct investigative research and gather information from a variety of sources to support case needs.
  • Prepare, file, and manage critical litigation documents in state and federal courts through electronic filing systems, including filings and services related to complex federal multidistrict litigation matters.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Client, Witness and Expert Coordination

  • Serve as a trusted resource throughout the litigation process, delivering exceptional client service and building strong relationships with clients, witnesses, expert witnesses, and court personnel.
  • Assist with the retention and management of expert witnesses, including preparing records and supporting materials for review throughout the litigation process.

Trial Preparation and Courtroom Support

  • Provide hands-on support during trial proceedings, ensuring attorneys have the materials, exhibits, and resources necessary for effective case presentation.
  • Play an active role in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing trial materials, coordinating witnesses, and managing case logistics.
  • Develop and manage electronic presentations and other courtroom technology to support attorneys during hearings and trials.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of litigation experience required, with experience in commercial or complex civil litigation matters preferred. An associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of professional experience and education required.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams required.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional client service, with the ability to communicate professionally, build trust, and maintain positive relationships with clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
  • Prior trial experience and an interest in supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation, including trial preparation and courtroom support, are highly valued.
  • Proficiency with legal technology tools, including document management systems (iManage preferred), electronic filing platforms, and timekeeping or billing software, is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity in leveraging AI and other emerging technologies to improve efficiency, enhance work product, and support innovative legal service delivery.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize competing deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
