Why This Role Matters

Christie’s Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Paralegal to join its team in New York City. The Paralegal will report to the Senior Litigation Counsel for the Americas and work closely with the legal and business teams to support a wide variety of interesting and complex art matters, including subpoena compliance; commercial, contract, and title/ownership disputes; and issues relating to repatriation requests. This role is well suited for an individual seeking meaningful exposure to dispute resolution, litigation, and third-party subpoena compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant experience, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Organize and maintain all dispute-matter filings and tracking documents to ensure timely compliance with all deadlines.

  • Lead investigations relating to subpoena compliance, collect and review documents relating to such compliance, and manage productions of responsive documents to third parties, all under the direction and oversight of team attorneys.

  • Join calls with third parties and take careful minutes, noting all relevant deliverables.

  • Process and track outside counsel legal invoices and manage Christie’s e-billing systems, primarily using the Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker tool. Generate reports relating to budget and run analyses to compare matter spend to the forecasted annual budget.

  • Conduct research using PACER, LexisNexis, and search engines.

  • Assist with drafting certain agreements using templates, with the direction and oversight of team attorneys.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years paralegal or legal assistant experience with top tier law firm or in-house legal department.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Well-developed professionalism and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Copilot, Outlook, Adobe, and Wordsmith.

  • Experience reviewing documents on a document-review platform – e.g., Concordance, Consilio, Relativity, Everlaw, etc.

  • Motivation to quickly learn Christie’s internal object and clients systems to become the NY Legal team’s lead resource on searching and producing reports therefrom.

  • Interest in the art market and enthusiasm for learning about auction processes and litigation.
