Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a Paralegal to join the Employment and Labour Law group in its Montréal office.
Our national Employment and Labour Law team, which includes more than 80 lawyers across the country, represents private and public sector employers throughout Canada. The team regularly advises on provincial matters, as well as leading cases at the federal level. From the Montréal office, we advise our clients and represent them before the courts, and quasi-judicial and administrative tribunals, in both of Canada’s official languages.
The role
Conduct in-depth legal research using multiple databases;
Draft memoranda to share the results of research conducted;
Participate in the drafting and dissemination of legal bulletins and other internal communications to keep the group informed of legislative and case law developments;
Identify topics of potential interest to clients and work with our Clients and Markets team to develop conferences and webinars;
Review and file collective agreements;
Carry out certain steps in the context of due diligence reviews;
Conduct criminal background checks and CNESST file checks;
Maintain and update various internal documents and tools, including deadline tracking charts, expert lists and the intranet;
Coordinate updates and manage client portals (access management, content additions, information verification);
Manage and organize legal documentation to facilitate access to and retention of files;
Collaborate on internal projects and the implementation of technological tools;
Provide training and support to articling students, junior lawyers and clients;
Participate in group meetings.
Required skills and expérience
Diploma in Paralegal Technology (DCS/D.E.C.);
Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role;
Experience related to the management of workplace accident files (an asset);
Excellent analytical, synthesis and organizational skills;
Proficiency in working with tight deadlines;
Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities;
Demonstrated autonomy, initiative, diligence and attention to detail;
Strong interpersonal skills, including customer service;
Eagerness to learn and intellectual curiosity;
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
