Join Goodwin’s Global Operations Team, and make a real impact on a global scale. At Goodwin, we work with some of the world’s most successful and innovative investors, entrepreneurs and disruptors in the life sciences, private equity, real estate, technology and financial industries, and where they converge. As part of the Global Operations Team – all business professionals at the firm – you’ll collaborate with colleagues from varied backgrounds and experiences, fostering an environment where cross-functional learning, networking, and collaboration are at the core of what we do.

Here, we’re not just supporting a law firm; we’re partnering with attorneys and clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions in high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution, world-class regulatory compliance and advisory services, and complex transactions. Our commitment to integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition drives us, and we’re proud to have been recognised as the “Best Business Team” by The American Lawyer.

This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

Our Commercial Technology team is seeking a highly motivated, self-starting, intellectually curious and detail-oriented Paralegal to support a wide range of technology-focused strategic partnerships, intellectual property and information technology matters, with a strong emphasis on due diligence for early stage investments and PE and M&A transactions. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys analysing complex information, and is eager to work on cutting-edge technology deals for innovative clients. The team’s work spans specialist support for transactional teams to counselling in complex strategic technology contracts, software licensing and cloud/SaaS arrangements, data licensing, IP commercialisation, consumer and digital regulation, data security, privacy compliance and procurement.

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our IPTS (IP Transactions and Strategies) team within the Tech & Life Sciences practice. This role is focused on assistance with specialist due diligence, including assisting with commercial contract review and reviewing IP assets. The role may also extend to assistance on data protection diligence. The successful candidate will work closely with Associates, Counsel and Partners, assisting with some administrative tasks and ensuring smooth execution of complex IP and technology-related deals.

This role will be on a 12-month fixed term contract.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with commercial, IP and IT due diligence for transactions, including reviewing and summarising commercial contracts, and IP and technology licences, carrying out verification of registered IP assets.
  • Use AI to create contract summaries and verifying the accuracy of the AI summaries.
  • Assist with drafting and preparing ancillary documents for commercial agreements.
  • Perform legal research on IP concepts, licensing structures, and technology regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external parties to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including document filing and version control for complex agreements.
  • Assist in preparing know how and client alerts for clients and internal stakeholders.

Who You Are:

  • Law degree or Post- Graduate Diploma in Law essential. Equivalent qualifications from other common law jurisdictions considered.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or professional services environment with exposure to IP, technology or commercial transactions preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of corporate due diligence processes and commercial contract and intellectual property review.
  • Well organised, self-motivated and keen to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Highly effective communicator (both verbal and in writing).
  • Ability to provide a high level of service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of tasks while maintaining attention to detail and prioritising as necessary.
