Overview

NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal to join the team at our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL.

The Paralegal position researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to ensure timely delivery of work product to meet deadlines and assist the Legal Department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares legal documents such as contracts and affidavits for approval, review, and use by Legal Department attorneys.
  • Clearly and professionally communicates legal advice and counsel to internal NaphCare stakeholders, with input and approval by Legal Department attorneys.
  • Assists Legal Department attorneys in working with clinical, operational, and business leaders to ensure compliance with legal standards and NaphCare policies and procedures.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers/emailers, composing and typing routine correspondence, reading and routing incoming mail.
  • Prepares correspondence and maintains document files.
  • Files correspondence and legal documents in the office filing system, ensuring proper indexing of original legal documents and correspondence.
  • Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treatises, constitutions, and legal codes.
  • Tracks activities and projects to monitor productivity and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of prior paralegal experience.
  • Healthcare related experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Maintains confidentiality, remains open to others’ ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things. Conducts thorough research and pursues all available avenues to obtain needed information.
  • Oral & Written Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and persuasively; edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively.
  • Planning/Organizing: Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
  • Quality: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Adaptability: Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; deals with frequent change or unexpected events.
  • Dependability: Consistently at work and on time; follows instructions and responds to management direction.
  • Safety & Security: Observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
