This Paralegal position will be supporting the Litigation group in Los Angeles.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare discovery, including subpoenas
Coordinate document productions
Corresponding with clients
Assist in conducting pre-claim investigation and on-line research
Prepare privilege logs
Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
Aid attorneys in responding to discovery and gathering relevant information from a variety of sources
Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties
Prepare exhibits to motions and for depositions
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work successfully with multiple team members, interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
Competent to handle a variety of activities with attention to detail and quality, and meet short deadlines, with the ability to follow through and follow up on assigned tasks with limited supervision.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Thompson’s Serengeti Tracker software experience
Proficiency in Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis and similar legal research programs
Proficiency in Compulaw calendaring program
Proficiency in Pacer and court e-filing programs
Retain a high level of flexibility and resourceful problem solving.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Experience e-filing in state and federal court
Educational and Experience Requirements
High School diploma
Prior litigation experience required (state and federal)
Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification preferred
Ideal candidate would also have some legal assistant skills/experience (e.g., formatting briefs, pleadings and other legal documents, filing briefs, pleadings and other legal documents, calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, maintain pleadings and discovery indexes)
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Hybrid schedule.
Ability to work extended hours when necessary.
Normal office environment; no unusual physical demands.
