Job Description

About Us

Racing and Wagering Western Australia ( RWWA) is the statutory authority responsible for administering, managing and supporting the State’s racing and wagering industries. As both the regulator of racing and the operator of the TAB, we hold a unique position in Western Australia’s commercial and regulatory landscape.

Our mandate extends across integrity, compliance, community investment and the sustainable growth of the racing industry. We oversee more than 50 race clubs, 300 TAB retail outlets, and an expanding digital wagering platform, ensuring that our operations meet stringent legislative, governance and ethical standards.

By joining RWWA, you become part of an organisation that not only drives a significant economic and social contribution to Western Australia, but also prides itself on delivering outcomes that support fairness, regulatory confidence and community trust.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Paralegal to join our Legal and Compliance team. This role provides essential legal, compliance, and administrative support, contributing to the effective operation of RWWA’s legal, governance, and regulatory functions.

Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, this role will assist with legal research, document preparation, regulatory submissions, contract and precedent management, compliance tracking, and coordination of legal and regulatory workflows. You will play a key role in supporting timely legal advice, maintaining strong record-keeping practices, and ensuring operational efficiency across a diverse range of matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paralegal or legal support professional seeking to apply their skills in a complex, highly regulated environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare, proofread and format legal documents, contracts, correspondence, and internal advice.
  • Maintain legal filing systems, registers, and precedent libraries in accordance with retention and security requirements.
  • Undertake legal research into legislation, regulations, case law, and industry guidelines, preparing summaries and briefing materials.
  • Support compliance and governance activities, including tracking obligations relating to applicable legislation.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist with updating internal procedures and registers.
  • Coordinate statutory filings, key employee licensing, regulatory submissions, and responses to investigations or notices.
  • Liaise with external legal providers, auditors and consultants and manage document collation for legal reviews and audits.
  • Provide meeting coordination, scheduling and operational support for the Legal and Compliance team.

Qualifications

About You

You are someone who brings strong judgement, organisation and a commitment to high-quality work. You also enjoy supporting a busy and dynamic compliance function, take pride in getting the details right, and are comfortable working with sensitive information. You thrive in a role where priorities can shift quickly, and where collaboration and clear communication really matter.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal support role.
  • Strong capability in preparing and interpreting standard legal documents and summarising legislation or legal advice.
  • Experience supporting in-house legal, compliance or governance teams (highly regarded).
  • Excellent organisation, time management, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law or legal studies (desirable, not essential).
