
The Pantry Packer/Assistant Driver will provide ongoing support and assistance to the Food Pantry program. This position requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population. The employee must be able to assist in all areas needed to ensure a smooth and cohesive operation of Social Service Ministries.
• Be punctual.• Assist with unloading, recording and weighing of donated items.• Drive for pick-ups and deliveries.• Assist with client intake and enrollment of new clients into the PantryTrak system for pantry assistance (i.e. client intake, household member/annual/ income/residential verifications).• Always ensure client confidentiality.• Always remain professional and respectful.• Serve as an exemplary role model to our volunteers and community.• Assist with referring POH clients to the Social Service Coordinator.• Ensure that Pantry Coordinator is provided with all recorded weights and receipts for monthly reports.• Maintain regular Pantry hours; Mon-Thurs 9a- 11:30am Bread & Pastry Fri 9a- 11:30am.• Emergency groceries (outside pantry hours) are to be handled on a crisis basis. No client in crisis should be turned away for service. (Refer to Social Service Coordinator).• Stock and shelve all food items adhering to all codes applicable to food storage. (Six inches off the floor, eighteen inches from the ceiling, mindfulness of thermometer temperatures in refrigerator and freezers, rotate food items to bring to the front, ensure that older items are distributed first, ensure that food pantry is always kept clean, etc.).• Ensure that the Food Pantry and all areas used for Food Pantry purposes are well stocked and prepared for daily operation purposes.• Assist with preparation for special community events (Produce Give-A-Ways, Christmas Distributions)• Ensure that the Food Pantry and all areas utilized for Food Pantry purposes are left in a clean and orderly fashion.
