The Regional Newborn Nursery APP inFremontat Gerber Hospitalis responsible forthe direct care and management of infants in the Level one nursery. As an Advanced Practice Provider,you'llplay an integral role within the Newborn Nursey by providing high-quality, effective care to patients and their families.
The ideal candidate willpossesscritical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are preferred.
While the primary location for this position isGerber Hospital in Freemont,wherethe majority ofshifts will be,there will be a fraction of the FTE that will be a part of the regional nurseryproviderfloat pool Specifically,a certain percentage of shifts will be filled at other regional hospitals: Ludington, Zeeland, Greenville, Pennock, and Niles.
**Experience with Newborn and/or Labor & Delivery preferred**
Responsibilities:
Education: Provide education, instruction, guidance,andadvisepatientsregardingmedications and treatmentCommunicate withandcounsel familymembers, andrecommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Clinical: Complete daily rounding, perform the daily physical examination ofnewbornscompleting H&Ps,progress notes, and discharges. Attendhigh riskdeliveriesand provide care recommended by NRP guidelines, provide intubation inhighly complexsituations, preform procedures (circumcision, frenotomy)
Documentation: Obtain complete, detailed, andaccuratepatient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis, and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients.
Teamwork. Assisttheon callattending physician with the care of the infants on the newborn nursery unit atGerberHospital.
Collaboration: Ability to workwith OB and nursing staff at Gerber, as well aswithin other Regional Nurseries
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner:
Required Master's Degree Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
3 years of relevant experience current, relevant clinical experience
Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role as a Nurse Practitioner
