Job Summary

The Production Technician II, also known internally as the Panel Shop Technician, plays a vital role in the manufacturing process at our Charlotte, NC facility. This position involves the setup, operation, and continuous monitoring of production equipment used in the creation, processing, and assembly of commercial products and substances. Using detailed product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), you will ensure the precise and efficient production of items that meet all quality standards and operational requirements.

This role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to upholding safety and quality protocols. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and thorough production records, identifying any discrepancies, and promptly reporting equipment malfunctions or irregularities to supervisors. Reporting directly to a departmental supervisor, this position supports the broader manufacturing team by maintaining consistent workflow and product integrity.

Ideal candidates typically bring an associate degree in manufacturing technology or a related field and possess 1 to 3 years of relevant industry experience. This intermediate role suits individuals gaining specialized proficiency in production technologies under moderate supervision, offering opportunities for skill development and deeper technical knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a variety of production equipment ensuring alignment with product specifications and safety standards.
  • Accurately interpret blueprints, diagrams, and SOPs to perform manufacturing and assembly tasks on commercial products.
  • Monitor production processes and finished outputs continuously for conformance to quality metrics and company standards.
  • Document production activities meticulously, maintaining logs and reports to track equipment performance and product quality.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate any operational or equipment anomalies to appropriate management promptly.
  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures including proper handling of materials and mandatory use of protective gear.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to optimize production flow and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure longevity and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions based on hands-on production experience.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent training in manufacturing technology, mechanical operations, or related disciplines preferred.
  • 1-3 years of proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, demonstrating growing technical proficiency.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Familiarity with operating and maintaining production equipment and tooling in an industrial setting.
  • Detail-oriented approach with excellent monitoring, inspection, and documentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols including proper material handling and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Capable of working under moderate supervision, showing initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors and team colleagues professionally.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle the demands of an active manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Function

The essential functions of the Production Technician II include the comprehensive setup and operation of manufacturing equipment as dictated by product requirements and SOPs. This involves interpreting detailed manufacturing documentation and executing assembly processes while ensuring all safety and quality standards are met consistently.

Continuous monitoring of production activities is required to identify deviations early, safeguard product quality, and maintain seamless operational flow. Thorough record-keeping is an essential duty, documenting equipment status, production outputs, and any operational issues to inform maintenance schedules and process improvements.

Compliance with all workplace safety regulations including proper use of personal protective equipment, safe material handling procedures, and adherence to emergency protocols is mandatory. This position requires collaboration with supervisory staff to escalate issues and participate in timely resolutions, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.

The role demands physical and mental stamina to manage day-to-day production challenges, adaptability to evolving production needs, and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development within the manufacturing discipline.
