PALLET JACK OPERATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Primarily responsible for transporting product via electric pallet jack. This job requires that employees carry different loads when needed and help out in other areas when necessary. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Check specified labels of products to verify right content on boxes.
  • Take product from one location to another location when needed.
  • Assist in helping others as needed.
  • Needs to get certified before using any kind of driving equipment.
  • Frequently lifts up to 40lbs and occasionally lifts up to 60 lbs.
  • Walks throughout the facility frequently. Distance can range from 1 to several miles per day. Must be able to stand on their feet and walk around for long periods of time.
  • Must have good visual skills including the ability to see and distinguish colors. Constantly subject to extremely wet and cold environments as well as wet and hot environments.
  • Frequently talks and receives information from line leaders and Supervisors.
  • Frequently uses both hands and fingers/hand manipulation skills to inspect the product and handle boxes.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended shift hours.
  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to count and understand numbers.
  • Jack driver knowledge helpful but not required: needs to be able to get certified to be able to move product. Good interpersonal skills required. Able to work professionally with employees from multiple areas (line leader, line operator, supervisor, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills required. Must be polite but able to ask question and gain information from others when needed.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in various functions
  • Schedule flexibility is required. Must be able to work any time.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Stand up to 8 hours.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Exposure to wet and cold environment.


Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and background check are required.
