Job Description

Own the details. Protect the finish. Keep Cherokee looking its best.

Cherokee Town & Country Club, one of America’s premier private clubs, is seeking an experienced Painter to join our Maintenance team.

In this role, you’ll help maintain the polished appearance of our Club by caring for interior and exterior painted and finished surfaces throughout our facilities. From preparing and refinishing surfaces to completing touch-ups and minor wall and ceiling repairs, your craftsmanship and attention to detail will directly contribute to the environment our members and guests experience every day.

If you take pride in your work, have professional painting experience, and appreciate the details that separate a good finish from an exceptional one, we’d love to meet you.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

Your Work Is Seen Every Day — Your craftsmanship helps maintain the appearance and condition of the spaces our members, guests, and employees enjoy.

More Than Just Painting — You'll work with a variety of surfaces, finishes, coatings, and techniques while handling everything from routine touch-ups to larger painting projects.

Quality Matters Here — At Cherokee, details matter. You'll have the opportunity to apply your skills in an environment where professional-quality work is valued.

Be Part of the Maintenance Team — Work alongside Maintenance leadership and other departments to complete projects efficiently while minimizing disruption to Club operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Inspect Club facilities to identify areas requiring painting, refinishing, repair, or touch-up.
  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces through cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, filling, and other appropriate preparation.
  • Apply paint, stain, finishes, and coatings using brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other appropriate equipment.
  • Perform routine touch-up painting to keep Club facilities polished and well-maintained.
  • Repair and prepare minor damage to walls and ceilings, including holes, cracks, and other surface imperfections.
  • Mix and match colors and finishes to achieve the appropriate appearance.
  • Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, equipment, and surrounding areas before beginning work.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store painting tools and equipment.
  • Monitor paint, primer, finish, and supply inventory and communicate material needs to Maintenance leadership.
  • Coordinate projects with Maintenance leadership and other departments to minimize disruption to members, guests, employees, and Club operations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout each project.
  • Follow proper procedures when handling paints, coatings, solvents, and related materials.
  • Follow Club safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
  • Assist the Maintenance team with general maintenance responsibilities within your knowledge and capabilities as needed.
  • Report facility conditions or maintenance concerns identified while completing projects.

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous professional experience in painting, finishing, or a similar facilities maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with interior and exterior painting and surface preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of professional or commercial painting techniques.
  • Experience mixing and matching paint colors.
  • Knowledge of paints, primers, stains, finishes, coatings, and their appropriate applications.
  • General knowledge of drywall and minor surface repair.
  • Ability to safely use brushes, rollers, sprayers, ladders, and other painting tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to a professional-quality finished product.
  • Ability to evaluate a surface and determine the appropriate preparation, materials, and application method.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple painting and touch-up projects.
  • Dependability, initiative, and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong member of the Maintenance team.
  • Professional demeanor when working in member and guest areas.

Even Better If You Have:

  • Painting experience in a private club, hotel, resort, commercial facility, or other high-end hospitality environment.
  • Experience completing projects in occupied facilities while minimizing disruption to daily operations.
  • General facilities maintenance experience.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is an active, hands-on position requiring regular standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs and ladders. The Painter must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve changing temperatures, heat, cold, humidity, dust, odors, fumes, and noise associated with painting and facility maintenance.

Because projects may take place in member-facing areas, attention to cleanliness, safety, presentation, and minimizing disruption is essential.
