Overview

Job Responsibilities:

Painters are responsible for:

  • Painters preserve critical assets to docking operations by sealing them with chemicals and paints that prevent corrosion. Critical assets include the ATLAS floating dry dock, HOLLAND and SEA SHUTTLE transport barges, Graving Dock #3 Caisson, Graving Dock #1, #2 and #3 pump rooms and internal operations areas.
  • Prepare the surface, mix and apply a variety of paints and finishes, such as baked on plastics, vinyl, and epoxy paints.
  • Paint thickness must be measured and documented. This requirement makes it essential that the Painter maintain a high level of quality.
  • Candidates must be able to sandblast, use pneumatic tools, roll brush and spray paint.
  • Candidates must be able to perform strenuous tasks for long durations
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Must be able to obtain respiratory qualifications and maintain them
  • Must be able to work all shifts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or have 2+ years related technical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be available for all shifts.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of hazardous material and environmental policies
  • Vocational or Technical schools with manufacturing or trades focus, Apprentice Programs, Military, Shipbuilding, Manufacturing, and Automotive experience
