AUTOBODY & INDUSTRIAL PAINTERS-Join Us and Drive Manufacturing Success!!

The Senior Painter position has responsibility for meeting all Manufacturing painted parts requirements and schedules, including the inspection of material, preparation, drying, inventory, and storage. This position has responsibility for the entire paint and prep areas including work direction, supervision, process improvement, and quality control. In the absence of a sub assembly supervisor, the senior painter will assume supervisory responsibility of the paint and prep area.

Responsibilities

  • Supports MPI lean culture and initiatives by attending and participating in daily lean meetings while supporting efforts to make continuous improvements throughout MPI.
  • Process improvement methods that reduce material and labor costs meeting MPI quality standards.
  • Anticipate, requisition, and maintain required supplies to perform duties.
  • Know MPI products and schedule to meet manufacturing requirements for painted parts.
  • Inspect incoming parts to be painted for quality control compliance.
  • Responsible for work direction and supervision of paint and prep areas.
  • Teach skills and techniques to paint and prep area employees.
  • Fills and smooths cavities and dents with body putty to attain smooth surface.
  • Verify surface locations to be painted by reviewing drawings or prints.
  • Apply masking tape over parts and areas per engineering drawings or direction that are not to be painted.
  • Selects, mixes, and sprays two-part urethane paints to produce required colors, gloss, and film thickness.
  • Operate forklift for material transport, upon the completion of MPI training.
  • Operate chain hoists and lift tables upon the completion of MPI training.
  • Assist the Prep area with tasks as needed or when paint duties are completed.
  • Cleans, maintains, organizes, spray equipment, paint booths, prep, paint, and storage areas.
  • Follow all Personal Protection Procedure Program requirements.
  • Compliance of all OSHA and MPI safety Procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in auto body painting, commercial painting, industrial coating applications, and construction painting projects
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and basic blueprints.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Perform basic calculations using a calculator.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements in US and Metric.
  • Have the skills to mix and spray two-part epoxy paints to produce required colors, gloss, and film thickness meeting MPI’s quality standards.
  • Moderate computer skills required.
  • ITAR compliance-All MPI employees are required to be US Citizens.
