Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The position will assist painters and welders in all tasks associated with sanding, prepping and painting.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  2. Prepare surfaces for painting.
  3. Document work completion and time-tracking in accordance with company procedures.
  4. Apply decals and unit numbers for tracking purposes.
  5. Requisition parts as necessary.
  6. Remove old paint rust decals to provide a smooth bondable surface for paint adhesion
  7. Operate forklifts, roll-off trucks and other equipment as required.
  8. Conduct inventory when directed by the supervisor.
  9. Prepare surfaces to be protected on interior or exterior assets to be painted for corrosion prevention.
  10. Prepare containers, compactors, boxes, buildings and other company assets as assigned by supervisor.
  11. Comply with company safety policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
  12. Report immediately any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.
  13. Conduct monthly, daily and weekly inventories as required.
  14. Maintain a clean workspace.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Forklift certified or able to become certified within 90 days of employment
  • Working knowledge of painting techniques, metal integrity, sanding and grinding operations
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment i.e., air compressors, grinders, sanders, stencils, paint equipment, and paint cleaning supplies
  • Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test Mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
  • Aptitude for maintaining and repairing equipment

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • At least one year of paint and body experience
  • Forklift certified
  • Working knowledge of paint, prep surfaces, environmental rules, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid Class C driver’s license
  • Safe driving for the last three years
