DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for participating in the safe application of industrial coatings to a variety of new and older mobile oilfield service equipment using standard and/or non-standard tools, equipment, and procedures. Using considerable judgment to ensure quality and/or proper procedures are used
- Material preparation – masking, blowing, sanding and preparing components
- Painting – selecting and mixing paints, operating painting equipment including pumps and guns
- Abrasive blasting – occasionally operating abrasive blasting equipment to prepare components for paint
- Read equipment assembly specifications, such as charts, schematics, blueprints, and typed instructions and details
- Brings technical problems encountered to the Lead Hand’s attention for resolution throughout the project
- Participate in regular shop/yard organization and cleanliness exercises
- Train new employees in painting/preparation operations as required
- Complete and maintain various records and documentation
- Demonstrate the capability to work independently or in a team on complex and multiple projects requiring judgment to resolve problems
- Familiarize yourself with operation controls such as safe working practices and job hazard analysis as appropriate to specific work tasks
- Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety and environmental requirements
- All other duties as assigned
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-5+ years’ experience or demonstrate competency in related field
- Must have experience or demonstrate equivalent knowledge of industrial painting processes in surface preparation, painting (spray, airless, electrostatic, HVLP, brush and roller) along with surface metal fiberglass repair and anticorrosion zinc coating/priming
- Meet company standard for pulmonary and respiratory functions
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and departments
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass a drug screen, physical exam, respirator fit test, & background check
- Must be able to read assembly blueprints in English format
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required
- Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited standardization
- Working knowledge of shop safety practices
- Understanding of quality assurance concepts, typically acquired through in-house training
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Adaptability and willingness to be cross trained
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Comfortable working in a factory environment with temperature variations
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and repetitive movements for up to 8 hours per day
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
LEVEL GUIDELINES
Level 1
- Performs basic/repetitive tasks following established company procedures
- Takes direction and work under direct supervision
- Decisions reviewed/made in conjunction with senior person
- Entry Level, 1-2 years of experience
Level 2
- Performs more complex duties requiring some skills and judgment
- Makes some decisions independently and works under general supervision
- Knowledge and problem-solving skills being developed
- 3-5 years of experience
