As a Paint Technician at CM Truck Beds Manufacturing Plant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of our truck beds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and track paint thickness, perform scratch and adhesion tests, and monitor test panels for proper cure.
- Inventory: Ensure we have all the necessary materials needed for the paint, prep, and bullet line area. Work with inventory and purchasing teams on placing orders for paints and materials.
- Track and file all paperwork from the wash process through paint. Investigate any discrepancies.
- Surface Preparation, Paint and Prime: Ensure surfaces for painting are being properly cleaned, sanded, masked, and appropriate primers as necessary. Inspect surfaces for imperfections and work with team on necessary repairs or adjustments. Ensure proper application of paint using spray guns or other equipment, ensuring even coverage and adherence to quality standards.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished surfaces for defects, imperfections, or inconsistencies, and make necessary adjustments or repairs to ensure quality standards are met.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain painting equipment, including cleaning, calibrating, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and safety. Work with primers and painters on any maintenance and technical needs.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure personnel are wearing their proper PPE when painting and storing it properly when not painting.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including supervisors, welders, and assemblers, to prioritize tasks, meet production deadlines, and ensure efficient workflow.

Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in industrial painting, preferably in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
- Proficient in surface preparation techniques, paint mixing, and application methods. Ability to operate painting equipment effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to detect and correct imperfections in finished surfaces.
- Capable of standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and withstand exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve production goals.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to painting and powder coating operations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet production demands.

- - Standing for long periods: The job often requires standing for extended periods while applying paint onto truck beds. This can put strain on your legs, feet, and back.
- - Lifting and carrying: You may need to lift and carry heavy materials such as paint cans, or equipment within the paint booth area. Proper lifting techniques are crucial to prevent injuries.
- - Repetitive motions: Painting involves repetitive motions which can lead to muscle fatigue and strain, especially in the arms, shoulders, and wrists.
- - Bending and reaching: You might need to bend or reach into awkward positions to access different areas of the truck beds for painting, which can strain your back and shoulders.
- - Protective gear: Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing is essential to prevent exposure to harmful fumes, chemicals, and particles.
