Job Description

At the BMW Group, passion transforms work into a purpose. We are looking for a highly skilled Paint Shop Process Engineer to join our Paint Shop team at Plant San Luis Potosí. In this key role, you will ensure stable, efficient, and quality-driven production processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize workplaces and equipment, and support new vehicle integrations.

What awaits you?

  • Ensure Paint Shop processes, monitoring surface quality, paint application, and implementing corrective actions for defect elimination.

  • Provide production-oriented feedback into early vehicle development phases and support pre-series builds.

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing (VPS) principles across the Paint Shop value stream, ensuring process standardization and continuous improvement.

  • Support the implementation and adherence to BMW working organization standards, process documentation, safety requirements and operational procedures within Paint Shop areas.
  • Plan, procure, and clear manufacturing tools, fixtures, and application systems in alignment with supply chain needs.

  • Autonomously identify cost-reduction opportunities across budget, investment, and material utilization.

  • Monitor operational KPIs (time, budget, quality), issue technical reports/job instructions, and grant manufacturing process clearances.

What should you bring along?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, Automotive Engineering, or related fields.

  • 3+ years of engineering experience in Automotive Paint Shop operations (surface treatment, electrocoating, topcoat, application technology, or paint automation).

  • Knowledge of paint application systems, process parameters, surface defect analysis, root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proficiency in process documentation, KPI reporting tools, and process capability analysis.

  • Advanced English.
