Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Specialist Practitioner (Band 6)

About Our Client

Our client provides a coordinated paediatric occupational therapy service for children and young people aged 0–18 years with significant disabilities and complex health needs. The service supports children in early years settings, mainstream schools, and special schools, focusing on functional difficulties in self-care, school-based activities, mobility, and posture.

The aim is to help children achieve their potential in daily living activities through evidence-based interventions and collaborative working.

About the Role

As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will:

  • Work as an autonomous practitioner across a range of settings.
  • Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with complex physical, learning, and social needs.
  • Complete functional assessments and write reports for EHCPs and multidisciplinary reviews.
  • Provide specialist advice to other professionals and caregivers.
  • Contribute to the supervision of students and support staff.
  • Participate in audits and service development initiatives.

About You

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of CPD and relevant specialist training.

Skills & Experience:

  • Clinical assessment and intervention experience as an OT.
  • Passion for paediatrics and knowledge of child development and neurodevelopment.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and work autonomously.
  • Skilled in preparing clear, multi-agency reports.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and assessments.
  • Experience with physical and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supervising students or junior staff.
