Job Description

Paediatric Occupational Therapist | Neurodevelopmental Rehabilitation

Western Melbourne | Brookfield, Ravenhall & Wyndham Vale

Full-time | Permanent | $85,000–$110,000 + super | 2+ years’ experience

For the OT who wants to make therapy part of a child’s real life

This isn’t a role where paediatric therapy stops when the appointment ends.

You’ll work with children and families across a specialist neurological rehabilitation service, helping young clients develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to participate at home, at school and in their community.

With more than 90% of the paediatric caseload funded through the NDIS, you’ll have the opportunity to work within a genuinely disability-focused environment rather than a generalist paediatric clinic.

And because therapists organise their own diaries around what is most beneficial for each client, the role gives you room to think clinically about where therapy needs to happen, not simply where there happens to be an appointment room available.

The clinical environment

You’ll join an established multidisciplinary service with dedicated rehabilitation facilities, including private treatment rooms and large gym areas, alongside home and community-based therapy.

The broader service brings together occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, exercise physiology, dietetics and allied health assistants, creating plenty of opportunity for collaborative care. The organisation also operates dedicated paediatric/neurodevelopmental services and provides therapy across clinic, home, community and telehealth settings.

Your caseload

More than 90% of the paediatric caseload is NDIS, with a strong focus on neurological and developmental disability.

Depending on your clinical interests and experience, your work may involve:

  • Functional assessment and intervention
  • Supporting participation in everyday activities
  • Developing independence with routines and self-care
  • Cognitive and functional skill development
  • Sensory and regulation-related strategies
  • Upper-limb and fine motor intervention
  • Assistive technology assessment and prescription
  • Environmental and home-based assessment
  • Supporting families and carers with practical strategies
  • Working collaboratively with schools, support teams and other health professionals
  • NDIS-related functional and support assessments

The wider organisation’s OT practice includes functional retraining, home modifications, assistive technology, cognitive intervention, upper-limb rehabilitation and SDA/SIL assessments, giving clinicians exposure to a broad range of practical rehabilitation work.

What we’re looking for

This is an opportunity for an OT who can bring existing clinical experience to the team.

You’ll need:

  • At least 2 years’ occupational therapy experience
  • Full AHPRA registration
  • Experience in paediatrics, NDIS and/or neurodisability
  • Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills
  • Confidence working with children, families and support networks
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
  • A genuine interest in neurological and developmental rehabilitation

Female clinicians may be particularly well suited to this caseload, although the organisation is open to both male and female applicants

New graduates are not being considered for this agency-recruited position

What you’ll receive

The salary range is $85,000–$110,000 + super, depending on experience.

But the real difference is in the wider employee offering:

  • $1,500 toward external professional development
  • Up to 3 days of study leave annually
  • Free access to selected external rehabilitation PD hosted by the organisation
  • Defined career pathways, leadership programs and clinical development opportunities
  • Clinical supervision and structured support
  • Peer support and an established multidisciplinary environment
  • Incentive payment program linked to client activity
  • Company vehicle option for eligible full-time therapists
  • Laptop and phone provided
  • Flexible working arrangements, with options to move towards a 9-day fortnight, 4.5-day week or 4-day week once established
  • Wellbeing leave and Employee Assistance Program
  • Additional parental payment equivalent to a 6-week extension of the Government Parental Leave Pay scheme
  • Funded team social events and annual gala
  • Access to clinic gyms outside working hours
  • Team initiatives supporting neurological charities, inclusion and staff connection

The employer is currently Great Place to Work Certified and has been recognised among Australia’s leading workplaces, including a 4th-place ranking in Australia’s Best Workplaces in 2023 and the Most Outstanding Allied Health Organisation award at the 2023 Australian Disability Service Awards.

Western Melbourne, without the generic western-suburbs pitch

Your working area spans Brookfield, Ravenhall and Wyndham Vale, giving you access to one of Melbourne’s rapidly developing western corridors.

Brookfield offers a quieter residential setting with established local amenities and bus connections, while Wyndham Vale brings together major shopping centres, cafés, parks, sporting facilities and access to Wyndham Vale Station. Ravenhall adds easy access to major road networks and the broader western Melbourne catchment.

It’s a practical base for clinicians who want a strong community focus without spending their entire working week in a traditional clinic environment.

How to Apply
