Job Title: Paediatric Community Speech and Language Therapist – Shropshire
Banding: Band 6/7
Location: Shropshire
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £24.00–£31.00 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time
Base: 70% of the role is based at either Telford or Shrewsbury, with travel to early years settings and schools required

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Paediatric Community Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic team in Shropshire. In this role, you will support children and young people with a wide range of speech, language, and communication difficulties, including those with complex Special Educational Needs (SEN).

This role involves both clinic-based work and visiting local early years settings and schools, enabling you to make a tangible difference in children’s communication development across the community.

This position is ideal for an experienced therapist with post-graduate experience in paediatric speech and language therapy, who thrives in a community setting and enjoys working collaboratively with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and deliver interventions for children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), including those with complex SEN.
  • Work collaboratively with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to develop individualised therapy plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.
  • Travel to early years settings, schools, and community locations as required.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, reviews, and training as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Extensive post-graduate experience working with children with a range of speech, language, and communication difficulties.
  • Significant experience supporting children and young people with complex SEN.
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  • A proactive and reflective approach to professional development.
