Day Shift
Position Purpose
At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post-operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room.
What You Will Do
Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures.
Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and readiness for discharge or transfer.
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.
Required
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
Valid RN license in Connecticut.
The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
Preferred
Candidates with ICU nurses with 2 or more years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills. Note Training is not available for candidates without this expertise
BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines
Position Highlights and Benefits
Part-Time – 24 hours/week – Day Shift
Monday thru Friday, no weekend or holiday commitment.
Variable Day shift rotations with ranging start times of 5:30 am, 6 am, 7 am, 8 am, or 9:00 am.
Shifts range from 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts, based on unit needs
Specialty pay is available exclusively to experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
