Packhouse Assistant Manager

Reporting to: Packhouse Manager

Our client in the agricultural sector is looking to appoint a motivated Packhouse Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day management of packhouse operations. This opportunity is ideal for an organised and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is eager to grow within the fresh produce industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination and supervision of daily packhouse activities, including managing staff and workflow
• Maintain strong operational oversight to ensure consistent product quality and accurate packhouse processes and documentation
• Monitor and manage packaging material stock levels, ensuring timely replenishment
• Support the development and implementation of best practice operational procedures
• Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety within the packhouse
• Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and quality assurance standards
• Ensure all products meet required specifications for both local and export markets

This position would suit a detail-oriented and observant individual who is well organised and able to perform effectively in a demanding production environment.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Previous supervisory or management experience will be advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good numerical ability and planning skills
• Self-motivated, disciplined and able to work effectively within a team
• High levels of integrity and reliability
• Ability to work independently while meeting operational targets and deadlines
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required
• Exposure to food safety or quality systems such as HACCP, BRC or similar would be beneficial
• Experience in a soft fruit or labour-intensive packhouse environment will be advantageous
• Own reliable transport is required
• Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment
