Job Description

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring packaging equipment to safely produce high-quality products in accordance with Mars Quality, Food Safety, and Operational Excellence standards. The role supports achievement of production targets through efficient machine operation, autonomous maintenance, continuous improvement, and adherence to safety and quality requirements. Packing Operator’s job is classified by several different levels by each task (palletize, kibble feeding, GP machine operator, etc). These tasks can be rotated based on requirement and skill levels.

Safety & Quality

  • Follow all Mars Safety, GMP, HACCP, and Quality standards.

  • Ensure products meet packaging, coding, labeling, and traceability requirements.

  • Report and escalate any safety, quality, or food safety concerns immediately.

Production Operations

  • Operate packaging equipment including baggers, conveyors, check weighers, metal detectors, palletizers, and associated systems.

  • Monitor machine performance and process parameters.

  • Achieve production targets while maintaining product quality standards.

  • Perform product changeovers and line clearances.

Autonomous Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic equipment checks.

  • Identify abnormalities and support maintenance teams during troubleshooting.

  • Maintain workplace organization through 5S practices.

  • Weekly cleaning as per GMP requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate actively in FMOS activities, Daily Direction Setting meetings, and CI projects.

  • Identify waste and suggest productivity improvements.

  • Support OEE improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete production records accurately.

  • Record downtime, quality deviations, and production performance.

  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements.

Experience and Educational Qualifications:

  • 3–8 years of experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or automated production environments.

  • Experience operating automated packaging equipment preferred.

  • BTech Diploma in Electrical in communication and instrumentations.
