Carpenter has an immediate opening for a Packaging Worker on 1st shift [6:30 am to 3:00 pm] at our Albert Lea, MN manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for packaging, labeling and processing orders for customers within the plant. Assistance is minimally provided loading and shipping foam products as well. This position will communicate with lead person for direction of orders for completion. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations of excellence. This successful candidate will be expected to be efficient in the operation of equipment within the department to determine the best material utilization.

Additional responsibilities of the Packaging Worker will include:

• Good Attendance, while demonstrating safe working habits and attitude.
• Learns the packaging and loading requirements for completed parts and their quality standards.
• Must be able to handle repetitive motions of hands, arms, and fingers while packaging.
• Manually loading and unloading of trailers by hand with assistance.
• Work within trailers during extreme cold and warm weather as needed (NO refrigeration operations).
• Must be able to stand for 8 hours in one place. Some heavier lifting is required, up to 40lbs.
• Able to operate computer for order look-up, printing and labeling/shipment needs.
• Learn the location of raw materials in the warehouse area and help organize inventory as requested.

Typical daily breakdown

• Package foam products by hand: 60-80%
• Paperwork and processing orders/shipments: 10-20%
• Assist loading trucks and pallets by hand: 5-10%

Job Skills / Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree Required.
• Be able to read specification drawings that assist in learning how to properly assemble finished parts.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
