Job Category: ManufacturingThe Packaging Team Lead is responsible for the performance of the department on their respective shift and must be in support of the overall department’s performance goals. Responsible for the completion of operations on a daily basis to includes meeting the daily packaging output goals, ensuring that procedures are defined by SOP’s, employees are properly trained, and executing specific verbal directions from their direct leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an operational knowledge of all packaging equipment and ancillary support equipment including control and communication devices used in the process.
- Assist in identifying areas for process improvements through analysis of daily operations and process review.
- Assist in identifying areas for health, safety, and ergonomic improvements through analysis of required tasks.
- Assist in Developing strategy for process improvements to include:
- - Operational Specification
- - Action Plan for implementation
- - Analysis of process improvement
- - Supporting documentation as required
- - Creating or revising Standard Operating Procedures to support the process improvement
- - Assist in training programs
- - Maintain tools & equipment required for packaging equipment
- Assist with, operational, and performance qualifications testing.
- Assist in evaluation of processes through SPC methods.
- Verify corrective actions that result from a non conformance.
- Perform defined preventive maintenance tasks at a daily and weekly level as defined by SOP.
- Support maintenance technicians on communication and controls.
- Follow all SOP’s, safety and health guidelines and cGMP guidelines.
- Develop daily packaging priorities to assure daily goals are accomplished, complete daily production log and attend daily production meetings as required.
- Complete ERP transactions for the packaging department.
- Verify material balance report & adjust inventories of packaging components as necessary.
- Develop continuous improvement initiatives for key performance indicators.
- Develop departmental personnel into high performing work teams.
- Prepare and setup the packaging line for each batch run according to the production order.
- Monitor the packaging line and support equipment during batch packaging.
- Perform process monitoring of the equipment – focusing on the primary equipment.
- Make necessary adjustments to the equipment and refilling of the packaging materials as needed.
- Ensure packaging line is supplied with the appropriate QC released materials according to the production order.
- Ensure the packaging line has been properly cleaned and line clearance performed at the end of each batch run and at the beginning of batch packaging.

Qualifications:
- Preferred 2 year Technical degree and a minimum of three years experience in operation of manufacturing processes, preferably in a high speed packaging environment.
- 5-10 years of experience in a management role in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Minimum 1 year employment with TRC in current position (internal candidates only)
- Excellent interaction skills with the ability to exercise initiative, to motivate, and direct production line employees.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, ERP (EPICOR preferred), SPC tools (Mini Tab, Etc.)
- Ability to establish priorities and meet expectations with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lead and develop a team-oriented working relationship within the operation.
