Job Description

Job Title: Packaging Line Lead

Immediate Supervisor: Packaging Supervisor

Wage: $24.69/hour

The Lead Packager performs all activities that pertain to the packaging of cheese and to ensure the packaging department and crumbling department are operating in a productive and cost effective manner.

Starting Time: To be determined by Packaging Supervisor based on business needs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Responsible for planning and coordinating to achieve daily packaging schedule to insure of timely shipments.
  • Assign employees as needed.
  • Ensure all employees are doing the jobs they are assigned according to all procedures.
  • Ensure all employees receive the needed training to perform their job(s).
  • Inspect all equipment to assure proper operation and safety.
  • Assist in all quality audits as needed
  • Ensure GMP’s, Quality Control, Safety, and Sanitation Procedures are followed including all documentation is properly filled out.
  • Communicate with warehouse/cooler personnel for product needs for the next day packaging needs and shipping needs.
  • Communicate with Inventory Clerk to insure all packaging needs are met.
  • Must be able to accurately complete all required paperwork and reports
  • Report any loss of containers, packaging materials, ingredients and products
  • Must be able to clean and sanitize all equipment
  • Communicate with office personnel on customer orders and needs.
  • Must be able to accurate perform all required tasks for Infinium System.
  • Ensure proper packaging and labeling for each product and customer.
  • Assist in any other areas of the manufacturing plant when necessary.
  • Must attend all job-related classes or seminars that are company supplied.
  • Qualification/Requirements
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous lead experience preferred but will provide training.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Must demonstrate basic math skills, and understand weights and measures.
  • Must be able to verbally communicate, understand, and write in the English language.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
  • Must be able to pass a approved First Aid Course
  • Must be able to perform basic computer tasks.


  • Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push/pull exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires visual acuity to review written documentations; ability to hear and understand speech. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes.
