Job Description

ABOUT US

Joint Company, in partnership with Terrabis, is a trailblazing cannabis processor rooted in Kansas City, MO. Together, we produce and distribute premium cannabis products across Missouri, united by a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence. With a steadfast focus on cutting-edge formulation and forward-thinking practices, we’re redefining what it means to lead in the cannabis manufacturing space. At Joint Company, we believe the future of cannabis isn’t something to follow — it’s something to build. Come shape it with us.

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for leading all final packaging operations within the cannabis manufacturing facility. This role ensures the accurate assembly, labeling, and compliance verification of all finished products before transfer to Distribution. The Supervisor manages the packaging team, controls final inventory stages, executes critical quality control (QC) checks, and coordinates closely with Distribution to prioritize and expedite high-demand orders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision: Lead, train, and manage the daily performance of the packaging team, assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to the production schedule and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Workflow Staging: Efficiently stage all necessary components, including finished product inventory, compliance labels, packaging materials, and hardware, to maintain continuous production flow for the team.
  • Prioritization: Collaborate directly with the Compliance & Logistics Manager, and Distribution teams to identify high-priority or high-demand orders and adjust the packaging schedule to ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Compliance Label Application: Oversee the final and most critical step of packaging, ensuring the correct, approved state-mandated compliance labels are accurately pulled, printed, and applied to every finished unit.
  • Inventory Verification: Own the reconciliation of finished bulk product (from Production) against the inventory required for labeling. Ensure accurate input and output counts are recorded in the inventory tracking system (e.g., Metrc/Distru).
  • Final Inventory Pull: Responsible for pulling and transferring the correct, verified physical inventory to the packaging line, matching it precisely to the required compliance labels for each batch/SKU.
  • Final QC Checks: Implement and execute rigorous quality control checks on packaged units. This includes verifying that:
  • The correct product material (e.g., vape cart, edibles, flower) is present inside the final packaging.
  • The final weights, counts, and packaging integrity meet company standards.
  • The SKU, batch number, and required compliance data on the physical label match the internal system records.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure all packaging logs, batch records, quality control forms, and inventory transfer documents are accurately completed and signed off before release.
  • Distribution Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact between Packaging and Distribution, coordinating the daily transfer of finished, fully compliant product inventory for manifest creation and shipment.
  • Troubleshooting: Address and resolve inventory and compliance discrepancies in partnership with the Compliance and Inventory departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in packaging, inventory control, or quality assurance within a highly regulated industry (cannabis, food, pharma, or medical device) required. At least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of inventory control principles and strict regulatory compliance related to product labeling and traceability (knowledge of Metrc or similar track-and-trace systems is highly advantageous).
  • Detail Orientation: Exceptional attention to detail is required for accurate counting, label verification, and final product quality checks.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and train a production team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate across departments (Production, Distribution, Compliance).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or state ID.
  • Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must be able to lift and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and stand for extended periods.
