Your Job

We are seeking a Packaging Design Engineer to drive end-to-end packaging design, development, and validation for Molex’s global product portfolio. In this role, you will deliver innovative, cost-effective, and reliable packaging solutions that enhance product protection, optimize supply chain efficiency, and support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to enable first-time-right packaging designs aligned with Molex’s global standards.

Our Team

You will be part of the Centralized Packaging Design (CPD) team within Global Engineering Services (GES), based at the Global Technology Center in Bengaluru. The CPD team partners with Product Engineering and Supply Chain teams globally to deliver innovative and standardized packaging solutions across Molex’s diverse product portfolio.

What You Will Do

  • Drive end-to-end packaging development, from concept design through validation and implementation, ensuring quality, compliance, and cost efficiency
  • Design optimized packaging solutions that enhance product protection, storage efficiency, and transportation effectiveness
  • Select and evaluate packaging materials based on product requirements, logistics conditions, and regulatory standards
  • Lead packaging validation activities, including drop, vibration, compression, and environmental testing, ensuring adherence to performance standards
  • Analyze test outcomes and implement design improvements to enhance reliability and reduce risk
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring timely and robust packaging development and deployment
  • Drive standardization and value engineering initiatives to optimize cost while maintaining performance and quality
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop packaging solutions, tooling, and ensure technical alignment
  • Maintain accurate packaging documentation including specifications, drawings, and BOMs within PLM/PDM systems
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives and R&D activities including alternative material identification and validation

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in packaging design and development
  • Knowledge of packaging materials such as corrugated boxes, plastics, foams, and protective solutions
  • Familiarity with packaging standards such as ISTA, ASTM, and ISO
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional team environments

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in new packaging development including design, prototyping, and validation
  • Understanding of electromechanical products and assemblies
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as Siemens NX and experience with Teamcenter or PLM/PDM systems
  • Exposure to sustainability initiatives or regulatory requirements related to packaging
