Packaging Engineer

Ink Supplies Operations is seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to design, qualify, and deploy complete packaging solutions across multiple product lines. This role partners closely with Business Units, R&D, manufacturing sites, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Procurement, suppliers, and New Product Introduction (NPI) program teams.
The Packaging Engineer will lead packaging cost‑reduction initiatives, design optimization, and efficiency improvement efforts for Ink Supplies Operations, with a strong focus on innovation and future‑driven sustainable packaging solutions.
This role requires applying subject‑matter expertise to address both common and complex business challenges within defined guidelines, exercising independent judgment, and recommending effective alternatives. The engineer will work on projects of varying complexity and scope and may serve as a project or team lead—providing direction, facilitating cross‑functional decision‑making, and validating technical information.
The successful candidate will be able to operate with minimum guidance, manage unique situations, and deliver high‑quality packaging solutions that meet performance, cost, quality, and sustainability objectives.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop packaging solutions for new and existing products.
• Execute packaging validation, testing, and qualification activities
• Support new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining engineering efforts
• Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and product teams
• Optimizes concepts and designs with analytical and physical assessments, to further increase efficiency and quality.
• Delivers designs and other program deliverables on time and within budget.
• Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners on engineering design and development.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
• Drive cost, material, and process optimization initiatives
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and reports
• Support issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, or any other related field
• 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design, manufacturing, or a related field
• Working knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and manufacturing processes
• Preferred experience with packaging testing, qualification, and supplier engagement
