The Packaging and Indirect Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for packaging materials and indirect categories. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, sustainability, and service levels. This position leads supplier negotiations, manages vendor relationships, and collaborates cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage supplier relationships with a focus on performance, risk management, and innovation
  • Negotiate terms, contracts, and service-level agreements with vendors
  • Track procurement KPIs and report on savings, service levels, and contract compliance
  • Support cross-functional initiatives including sustainability, quality improvement, and digital procurement tools
  • Lead or support e-procurement implementation and automation projects
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for all primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials
  • Manage supplier selection, performance, and negotiations for packaging vendors
  • Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Operations, Co-Manufacturing and Sustainability on packaging innovation and sustainability initiatives
  • Monitor packaging cost trends and drive cost optimization through value engineering and alternative sourcing
  • Ensure supply continuity and inventory alignment with production needs
  • Lead sourcing and contract management for indirect spend categories (e.g., MRO, IT, marketing, facilities, logistics)
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation
  • Partner with business units to understand indirect procurement needs and ensure alignment with budgets and compliance
  • Oversee procurement policies and ensure adherence to company standards



Qualifications



Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, with at least 2 years in packaging and/or indirect procurement
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or CPG environment
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in procurement and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Oracle, Ariba)
  • Familiarity with packaging materials and manufacturing processes
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Expertise in RFx processes, TCO analysis, and supplier performance management
  • Contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to influence internal stakeholders and drive change
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical sourcing

Preferred

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS, CPM)
  • Experience in sustainable packaging and ESG-focused procurement
  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience managing procurement in a global or multi-site environment
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based environment
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10-20%) to suppliers or manufacturing sites
