Salary: 100,000 AUD if located in Australia, 75,000 FJD if located in Fiji. Benefits will differ dependent on location.

We are looking for a Pacific Development Manager on a fixed-term contract to work as part of the Pacific team, working closely with BirdLife’s global Development and Partnership teams to support fundraising, donor engagement, partnership coordination and regional communications across the Pacific.

In this role, you will be securing and coordinating funding opportunities and strengthening donor, partner and stakeholder engagement across the Pacific region. As part of cross-regional working, this role will also support the development of fundraising opportunities in the Asia region.

How you will do this:

• Develop high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and budgets for Pacific conservation programmes.
• Identify new funding opportunities and manage donor relationships, from engagement and contracting through to stewardship and reporting.
• Maintain and strengthen the Pacific fundraising pipeline, tracking opportunities and supporting strategic growth.
• Oversee sub-grants to partners, ensuring effective coordination, compliance, and follow-up.
• Produce compelling donor communications, including reports, presentations, and impact stories.
• Manage fundraising systems and support internal processes, including procurement and donor compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with BirdLife Partners across the Pacific, fostering collaboration and information sharing.
• Strengthen Partner capacity in fundraising, reporting, communications, and project delivery.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, and engagement activities that strengthen the BirdLife Partnership across the Pacific.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role you’ll need proven experience of securing institutional funding, ideally from donors such as MFAT, DFAT, the EU, USAID, and trusts, foundations, or corporate partners. Strong proposal development, budgeting, donor management, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to identify funding opportunities and develop strategic partnerships.

You'll be highly organised, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong financial literacy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively across remote teams. A good understanding of conservation and development in the Pacific is essential, with knowledge of Asia an advantage. A relevant university qualification is desirable, as are proficiency in Microsoft Office and French language skills.
