Global Financial Services (GFS) was formed in Q3 2018 through the merger of Global Finance Operations, Integrated Finance Solutions and Cash Generation. GFS is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.

The creation of the Global Financial Services (GFS) centers in Warsaw (Poland), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and San José (Costa Rica) will transform the AZ Middle Office and Back Office to a central function, supporting the business regions through simplification, standardization across the globe, and a structure that is scalable to support the bold ambition of becoming a $80bn company by 2030.

We have exciting opportunities to join our GFS Center in San José, which will establish best practices and be responsible for providing support to embedded finance (CFOs and country business partners and or BPs in Manufacturing).

Role Profile

The P2P Systems Controller, as part of Systems Delivery Team, will work with stakeholders across the support model to drive all service and supplier management activities in relation to the systems supporting P2P processes to ensure that these are delivered in accordance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) and business requirements. They will ensure new and improved services are developed and implemented without risk to business functions and deliver the provision of excellent customer experience.

The role holder reports to the GFS Systems Delivery Manager, within P2P tower of GFS Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard Coupa system configuration in line with Purchase to Pay process and core system design; identify and escalate (if necessary) process deviations that are not driven by local, regulatory or tax considerations.
  • Manage system changes in a controlled and compliant manner, partnering with technical, procurement, finance teams and vendors to implement changes as required.
  • Accountable for running P2P projects (systems) to support internal stakeholders with little disruption on daily business.
  • Understand process and system issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Support in managing relationships with all outsourcing parties in the End-To-End service.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends through relationships with suppliers and market experts; identify and communicate new technologies and solutions to key problems in the systems area.
  • Collaborate effectively across different organizational levels, functions, businesses, geographies (incl. external providers) to realize GFS goals and objectives, following established principles: drive efficiency, drive automation, drive standardization, achieve regulatory compliance, ensure system stability, support SAP4 Hana readiness.
  • Define, implement and monitor metrics to identify improvement opportunities, service gaps and key trends.
  • Clear focus on end-to-end process performance across the AZ business.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of supporting and delivering changes across P2P systems (for example Coupa, Ariba, Concur, SAP).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively.
  • Thorough understanding of Finance and Procurement processes.
  • Able to communicate at all levels within the organisation and with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Track record of driving simplification & continuous improvement across key business processes.
  • Significant experience in Service delivery and processes in a complex, multinational, corporate environment.
  • Experience in managing and developing 3rd party business relationships.
  • Strong delivery, influencing/ communication skills, self-motivation.
  • Ability to analyse/ prioritise requests or issues/ changes and provide the best possible solution in a timely manner.
  • Candidate will be qualified at a university degree level and have relevant experience in the domain area.

Desirable criteria

  • Comprehensive experience in process design and / or optimization; experience with SSCs with a finance background.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills around accounting analytics and processes.
  • Lean six sigma or other process improvement qualification or experience.
  • Programming skills (Power BI, SQL, Python, VBA), any language or automation platform.

Internal and External Contacts/Customers

The GFS function will interface with the Back-Office areas, Embedded Finance (CFOs and Country Business Partners), LATAM and NAM Area Finance, other GFS teams and 3rd party functions.

Other Role Requirements

  • Schedule flexibility to work on holidays when necessary.
  • Flexibility and Ability to travel and work in another AZ facilities outside the country when necessary.
  • Schedule flexibility to work on the days off given by the wellness Policy when necessary (Política de Bienestar).
