About the role

Basic PurposeThe Security Officer is a part of a team responsible for the security and safety measures throughout the Hotel. They willmaintainstrategic oversight of every aspect of the Hotel's physical security and safety for Guests, Residents, Employees, Assets and Reputation including staffing, budgets,protocolsand procedures as well as crisis management.Security Officers will need to be extremely sensitive towards all occupants and workers,anticipatingtheir needs so we can meet our standards.Security Officers will also be sensitive toeverybody’sneeds and at times will act as a facilitator, mediator, and informant tomaintaina respectful and friendly relationship between and with all occupants of the Hotel.

What you will do

  • Assist the Hotel team with responsibility to ensure the protection of guests,patronsand associates; their property, Hotel property,buildingand grounds. Enforce Hotel rules,regulationsand policies as well as the departments’ rules,policiesand standards.Respond to and mediate all non-emergency security calls, minor injuries, disputes, stressful, and complicatedissuesetc.

  • Promote safety awareness and enforcement throughout the Hotel to reduce accidents andlossby providing training asrequired

  • Respond to all emergency calls including Emergency Response team calls. Willassistin the Fire Command center when needed. Display complete knowledge of the fire/life System and all support systems, their functions and emergency response procedures.

  • Patrol building noting and correcting safety, security, and fire hazards. Ablewalkrunup stairscarrying a fire extinguisher.

  • Implement all policies and proceduresregardingsecurity and safety.

  • Share duties in Operations Center with emergency and department phone monitoring, closed circuit television monitoring, alarm monitoring, vendor/solicitor/visitor access, and key control.

  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation, complete reports, andmaintaina healthand safety.

  • Write comprehensive incident reports and conduct thorough investigations. Maintain report records,assistand follow-up on investigations, and approve reports and logs. Initiates andassistsGeneral liability reports. Promotes loss prevention through training and awareness throughout the building to reduce claims.

  • Containand transport items potentially contaminatedin accordance withBlood Borne Pathogen program and training.

  • Participate and take an active role in the development and implementation of the hotel’s fire plan. In addition to testing the hotel’s Fire and Emergency Response preparedness.

  • Interact and conduct V.I.P. escorts in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Assist the Overnight team with Valet duties as needed, including retrieving guest vehicles.

Whatyou bring

  • At least 1+ years of security experience, preferably withinHotels

  • High Schooleducation or equivalent experience

  • Ability to apply an ethical approach to the outcome of situations.

  • Strong interpersonal andrelationship-buildingskills to work with peers,superiorsand clients

  • Ability to work in a safe,prudentand organized manner

  • Must be flexible with schedule - Able to work weekdays,weekendsandholidays;ability to workovernight shiftsrequired

  • Reading,writingand oralproficiencyin the English language

  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment

  • Strongproblem-solvingskills, ability to handledifficult situationsand guests

  • Mustpossessa valid driver’s license and clean driving record
