Overnight Security

Salary Range: $ 19.00- $20.00 per hour (experience-based compensation)

Position Summary:

The Overnight Security team member is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests, employees, and visitors throughout the hotel. This position proactively monitors hotel activity, conducts regular patrols, responds to emergencies and incidents, and addresses safety and security concerns promptly and professionally. The Overnight Security team member plays an important role in safeguarding guests, employees, and hotel property while providing attentive and courteous service throughout the overnight hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, employees, and visitors throughout the hotel.
  • Escort guests to their rooms when requested or when circumstances warrant.
  • Assist with overnight guest room deliveries and respond to housekeeping, maintenance, and other guest requests as needed.
  • Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols throughout the night to ensure the hotel remains safe, secure, and in compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Monitor guest and employee activity and respond appropriately to disruptive, unruly, or potentially unsafe behavior.
  • Monitor hotel surveillance systems and maintain security equipment and recordings in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of public areas, guest areas, and other designated spaces to identify and address potential safety or security concerns.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, security incidents, alarms, and other situations requiring immediate attention.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, disturbances, and other incidents occurring on hotel property and complete accurate initial reports in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Prepare detailed and timely shift reports documenting security activities, incidents, observations, and follow-up items.
  • Contact local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary and cooperate with responding authorities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hotel emergency procedures, safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and security policies.
  • Assist guests and employees during emergencies and provide appropriate direction and support until the situation is resolved or additional assistance arrives.
  • Escort employees to their vehicles when requested or when circumstances warrant.
  • Maintain professional communication and a calm, courteous demeanor when interacting with guests, employees, management, and emergency personnel.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the hotel, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
  • The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands, and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous security experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and composed when responding to high-pressure or emergencies.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.
