EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Fee For Service

SCHEDULED HOURS: Friday-Saturday, 10pm-6am & Holidays

PROGRAM/SITE LOCATION: EMPS/Middletown, CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Service (EMPS)

EMPS delivers 24/7 crisis support for children and families experiencing emotional, behavioral, or situational distress. Services include:

  • Crisis telephone triage and support
  • Mobile crisis assessment and intervention
  • Community-based care in homes, schools, courts, and other settings

Our mission is to provide early intervention, stabilization, and alternatives to hospitalization while strengthening families and communities.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Crisis Therapist

As a Crisis Therapist on our multidisciplinary, fast-paced mobile crisis team, you will play a critical frontline role in providing timely, high-quality crisis support to youth and families during lower-volume overnight hours Working independently, you will respond to calls, conduct risk assessments, and deliver brief crisis interventions as needed, ensuring safety and stabilization.

In this role, you will manage cases autonomously while maintaining communication with On Call supports as appropriate. Responsibilities include documenting encounters, coordinating follow-up as indicated, and facilitating connections to ongoing services when needed. You will also engage with our internal quality and training systems to maintain strong clinical standards

You can expect a dynamic position that balances direct clinical work with opportunities for growth and leadership within the team. This may include participating in crisis consultations, engaging in ongoing coaching and professional development, and contributing to the overall delivery of high-quality, responsive crisis services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis assessment and follow up to monitor status of clients in crisis.
  • Documents ongoing client progress and outcomes
  • Demonstrates competency in age related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each
    population served.
  • Works with clients to develop appropriate discharge plans utilizing natural supports.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with family members and other service providers
  • Performs home and community based care.
  • Responsible for Maintaining Client and Staff Records According to Agency Policy
  • Participates in weekly supervision and meetings to review client and program progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s Degree or higher in mental health field

Experience: Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience as a psychotherapist working with
people with mental illness and/or serious emotional disorders. Demonstrated training and experience in
all aspects of mental health treatment, assessment, evaluation and provision of individual, group and
family therapy.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, eligible. Licensed preferred.
