YMCA Buffalo Niagara operates two premier summer overnight camps in Western New York.

YMCA Camp Kenan (CampKenan.com) overlooks beautiful Lake Ontario on 50 acres near Barker, NY.

YMCA Camp Weona (CampWeona.com) is nestled among 800 acres of hills and forests in Gainesville, NY.

When applying for this job, you will be asked to select the overnight camp location you would prefer to work at.

Camp activities include swimming, archery, low & high ropes challenges, climbing wall, gaga ball, arts & crafts, nature, science, and more.

Responsible for the cleanliness, repair, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds at a YMCA overnight camp.

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a part-time seasonal position, working 30 – 35 hours per week, from May through September. The incumbent will be scheduled to work 3 weekdays and on Saturday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform maintenance tasks, ensuring that buildings, equipment, fixtures, etc. are operating at peak efficiency.
2. Clean and disinfect buildings, bathrooms, and structures. Remove garbage. Use appropriate PPE.
3. Responsible for groundskeeping. Mow grass and maintain the cleanliness of outdoor program spaces.
4. Maintain an adequate inventory of janitorial supplies.
5. Actively ensure the safety and well-being of all children by adhering to YMCA Buffalo Niagara Child Abuse Prevention policies. Recognize, respond to, and immediately report any suspected abuse, policy violations, or safety concerns.
6. Ensure a safe environment, correcting safety concerns and reporting any unsafe conditions immediately.
7. Comply with all OSHA, NY State, and local standards and regulations related to buildings and grounds.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of one year of experience in housekeeping, and/or custodial work.
2. Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used to complete cleaning tasks, minor maintenance projects, and groundskeeping including a riding lawn mower.
3. Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
4. Ability to work well with others.
