Job Description

JGM is hiring an experienced Material Handler / Crane Operator to join our team at our heavy industrial structural steel fabrication facility in Coatesville, PA.

In this role, you'll work inside our fabrication shop alongside our processing and fabrication teams, using overhead cranes to move beams, columns, plate, and fabricated assemblies through the shop. Our Coatesville shop runs (7) 20-ton and (3) 10-ton overhead cranes, and you'll play a key part in keeping steel moving safely between processing equipment, fit-up and weld stations, and shipping.

This is a hands-on role for someone with real overhead crane and rigging experience in a steel, fabrication, or heavy manufacturing shop. If you're safety-focused, dependable, and looking for steady full-time work, consistent overtime, strong benefits, and opportunities to grow your skills, JGM offers a long-term place to build your career.

Location: Coatesville, PA

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Every other two-week period: 5:00 AM–5:30 PM through December
  • Optional Saturday shifts available every week
  • Consistent overtime opportunities

What You'll Do

  • Operate overhead cranes (up to 20-ton capacity) to move, pick, set, and stage structural steel throughout the shop
  • Select, inspect, and rig loads using chains, slings, spreader bars, and beam and plate clamps
  • Flip, roll, and position beams, columns, and fabricated pieces for fitters and welders
  • Load and unload processing equipment, including beam drill lines, saws, plate processors, and cambering equipment
  • Stage material at fit-up and weld stations to keep production on schedule
  • Read tags, piece marks, and cut lists to make sure the right piece gets to the right station
  • Move finished pieces to shipping and assist with occasional forklift and yard moves
  • Perform daily crane and rigging inspections and report maintenance concerns
  • Use standard crane hand signals and keep people clear of suspended loads
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years of overhead crane and material handling experience required
  • Previous experience in a structural steel, fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or similar shop environment
  • Hands-on rigging experience, including selecting and inspecting rigging for long, heavy, or awkward loads
  • Experience flipping and positioning beams, plate, or fabricated pieces is strongly preferred
  • Experience working around processing equipment (beam lines, saws, plate processors) is a plus
  • Forklift experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of standard crane hand signals
  • Ability to read tags, piece marks, and cut lists, and to use a tape measure
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to surroundings
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working as part of a team
  • Willing to complete OSHA 10 training upon hire; current OSHA 10 certification is a plus
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
