The Over, Short & Damages Claims Clerk is responsible for managing all non-produce controlled freight discrepancies across all divisions. This role ensures timely and accurate resolution of claims while serving as a key communication link between internal departments and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Process over, short, and damaged freight claims accurately and in a timely manner
Communicate claim disposition and status updates with vendors, carriers, procurement teams, and warehouse operations
Monitor and maintain damaged product in designated warehouse “hold” areas across all facilities
Calculate cost of goods, freight charges, and associated claim expenses
Ensure all supporting documentation is properly completed and maintained for auditing and dispute resolution purposes
Enter and update claim data in the Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure accurate tracking and reporting
Maintain detailed records of all claims for reporting, analysis, and operational visibility
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail with the ability to process claims accurately and efficiently
Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of transportation, logistics, or freight claims preferred
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with transportation systems or data entry systems is a plus
