Job Description

Job Summary
The role of the Lift/Outdoor Maintenance Mechanic is to ensure all outdoor maintenance equipment is operational throughout the year in all conditions. This role also supports all fleet vehicles with preventative and repair maintenance as necessary. Repairs shall be made in a safe, cost effective and time efficient manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Repair and maintain all grounds equipment to include mowers, carts, etc.
• Repair and maintain grooming equipment.
• Repair, maintain, and install chair lifts.
• Order parts for equipment repair as needed, and maintain par levels.
• Fabricate tools, equipment, and light poles.
• Evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment.
• Help mechanics evaluate minor mechanical problems, and inspect repairs completed.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle components, assemblies, and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc.
• Check and repair electrical and cooling systems, and install heaters and similar accessories.
• Estimate time and materials required to perform major repairs.
• Analyze engine performance and perform tune-ups as needed.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties.
• Ensure shop, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications
Competencies:
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (OSHA).
• Previous experience with small engine and diesel engine repair required.
• Previous experience with heavy equipment operations required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
• Ability to operate and repair UTVs, snowmobiles, and other small equipment safely.
• Knowledge of 12 and 24 volt dc, 120 to 480 volt ac, single and 3 phase electricity, 12 and 24 vdc stop and control circuits preferred.
• Self-motivated and positive attitude.
• Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and able to maximize use of time, resources and tools.
• Able to analyze and interpret mechanical instructions (i.e. manufacturer specifications).
• Dependable and meets goals.
• Exemplifies professional conduct and adherence to company Core Values.
Education:
• High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred mechanical class work.
• Associate degree in mechanical based program preferred but not required.
• Combination of other ski area management hands-on roles which enables performance of all aspects of the position this would be a plus.
Physical & Other Requirements:
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to climb heights up to 40 feet while wearing tools/gear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
• Ability to work out doors in extreme weather conditions (hot and cold).
• Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
• Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
• Minimum 18 years old.
• Non-smoking candidates preferred.
