We're seeking an Outside Sales Representative to take charge of a steel industry territory and drive its growth. You'll land new accounts, build lasting customer relationships, and develop proposals that win on service, backed by our management team and inside support staff.

As our Outside Account Manager, you'll run your region like your own business. You decide which accounts to chase, how to spend your week, and how to win. You'll have a management team that challenges you and an inside sales and operations crew that backs you up, and you'll have the freedom to build something that's yours.

What You'll Do

Hunt and grow

• Take full ownership of growth and results in your territory
• Identify, pursue, and close new accounts that fit our target criteria
• Build relationships at every level of an account, from the plant floor to the executive suite

Sell solutions, not just price

• Build proposals tailored to each customer's needs
• Craft programs, pricing arrangements, and supply agreements that win on service and value, partnering with sales management to get there
• Maximize both customer success and gross margin

Deliver on the promise

• Work hand in hand with inside sales, support staff, and facility operations to make sure customers get accurate pricing, quality product, and on-time delivery
• Log visits, track quotes and daily sales, and resolve customer issues quickly using our technology platforms

Be the expert

• Develop deep knowledge of the steel industry and our services, and stay ahead of market changes
• Represent us at local, regional, and national trade shows
• Manage your own travel and entertainment budget to get the best return in your territory

What You Bring

Must-haves

• 2+ years of outside sales experience, ideally in steel or metals
• Working knowledge of the steel industry
• A strong drive for results and a habit of going the extra mile
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Comfort negotiating, with the composure to solve problems
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Solid grasp of supply and demand economics
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• The kind of presence that builds trust and confidence with executives and customers alike

Big pluses

• 3+ years in the steel industry
• Proven track record negotiating with customers face to face

The Lifestyle

Let's be upfront: this is a travel-heavy role. You'll be on the road 3 or more weeks a month by car, mapping out your own schedule each week. Some work will fall outside the standard 8-to-5. In return, you get real autonomy, real ownership, and a front-row seat to the customers you serve.
