
Outreach Specialist
Support Services for Veteran Families, Covers Multiple Counties
Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week
$40,000/Year
SCHEDULE: 8:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Friday
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Answers veterans support line and conducts outreach for homeless and at-risk veterans.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Answers support line to conduct screening and provide advocacy and referrals to community resources for veterans in need
2. Travels to community locations where homeless and at-risk veterans congregate to ensure effective local outreach
3. Conducts program screening over phone or in person with veteran households to assist in determining program eligibility
4. Documents and records coordination meetings and provided outreach
5. Coordinates with veteran program staff to facilitate program placement
6. Works closely with the case management team to ensure seamless service delivery from outreach to program participation
7. Actively participates in regular SSVF Coordinating Team meetings for the purpose of program consistency, monitoring and effectiveness
8. Provides crises intervention as appropriate
9. Participate in community-wide events promoting services for veterans.
10. Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
2. Willingness to learn and apply best practice models as appropriate
3. Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability if applicable; reliable transportation
4. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent required, college coursework preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience with the issues of homelessness, domestic violence, chemical dependency, mental health preferred. Experience working with veterans preferred.
