Job Description

DUTIES:

  • Works to help BPHC advance as an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.

Leadership and Programming

  • Creates a positive, supportive, and compassionate culture and environment for clients, staff, and client workers. Seeks ways to improve morale and build teamwork.
  • Develops program policies for increasing access to and continuity of care for acute mental health services and substance use disorder treatment, thus contributing to the implementation of integrated, evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment services for clients.
  • Establishes new partnerships and collaborations with community partners and across RSB programs to support client’s treatment, behavioral health, and clinical service pathways.
  • Leads trainings for staff and provides guidance to staff on trauma-informed approaches.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with other service providers and clinicians and coordinates with partner providers around client clinical care outcomes. Serves as a liaison with BPHC clinical partnerships (i.e., BHCHP trauma services; Eliot case management).
  • Represents BPHC RSB on citywide meetings and participates actively in citywide provider meetings, including case coordination meetings.

Clinical and Client Services

  • Provides clinical leadership and support to PAATHS, Street Outreach, and other RSB teams as needed to ensure quality service delivery across all client interactions.
  • Conducts bio-psychosocial assessments and develops client-centered service or care coordination plans.
  • Offers direct consultation and guidance to staff regarding crisis intervention, overdose prevention, and complex case management.
  • Supports staff in engaging hard-to-reach clients through motivational interviewing, trauma-informed, and harm reduction principles.
  • Participate in case conferencing and ensures appropriate documentation of client encounters in alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Coordinates with internal and external partners to connect clients with detox, treatment, and recovery resources, with a focus on ensuring continuity of care across the levels of care.
  • Assists with data collection, quality assurance activities, and reporting related to client outcomes and service delivery.
  • Maintains regular supervision and collaboration with supervisors and team members to ensure a coordinated approach to client care.
  • Acts as a liaison between clients and other Recovery Services Bureau programs and outside service agencies.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversees recruitment, and clinical supervision all assigned staff and interns in accordance with BPHC Human Resources policies.
  • Ensures appropriate, timely documentation of all work as required by regulations and best practices.
  • Participates in data collection, quality assurance measures, and professional development.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
  • Meets regularly with supervisors and colleagues to discuss program operations and confidential matters.
  • Operates independently with discretion to make decisions affecting program operations and staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
  • Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
  • Master's degree in social service field. LCSW/ LICSW or LMHC required or eligibility for licensure and obtainment of licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in the delivery of services to individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders, mental illness, HIV risk, and/or criminal justice involvement.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and working clinical skills on etiology & treatment of use disorders, MI, CBT, and crisis intervention Strong working understanding of, and ability to comply with, confidentiality and privacy laws.
  • Familiarity with area resources for use disorders and mental health including those for acute and crisis level of need. Knowledge of trauma and trauma-informed care principles and best-practices.
  • Experience with individual and group treatment modalities, psychosocial assessments and comprehensive treatment planning
  • Experience in working with diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds preferred. Familiarity with operations of clinical projects, protocols, ethical standards, and staff training.
  • Computer Proficiency Required, preference for familiarity with SMART or other EMR software.
  • Bilingual/bicultural skills strongly preferred.
