Atrium Health Athletic Training – Collegiate Partnerships (Charlotte Region)
Atrium Health Athletic Training partners with colleges and universities across the Charlotte region to deliver comprehensive, on-site sports medicine services that support the health, performance, and safety of student-athletes. As one of the region’s largest outreach programs, Atrium Health provides embedded athletic trainers, team physicians, and access to orthopedic and sports medicine specialists, ensuring seamless care from injury prevention through return-to-play.
At Pfeiffer University, this partnership includes a dedicated, full-time Atrium Health athletic training presence within the athletic department, supporting more than 400 student-athletes with injury prevention, clinical evaluation, rehabilitation, and performance-focused programs. Athletes benefit from coordinated access to advanced services such as sports medicine specialists, nutrition and wellness resources, and education for coaches and staff, all designed to optimize outcomes and enhance the student-athlete experience.
Position will support Men's Soccer, Men's Lacrosse and Cross-Country / Track.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Athletic Training Services, the outreach athletic trainer is responsible for the day-to-day medical coverage in the collegiate and/or professional sports setting. The ideal candidate will have experience with injury prevention, human movement correction, and be able to play an active role in developing the next generation of professional footballers. Provide standard immediate care procedures used in emergency situations, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning. Employ appropriate assessment outcomes measures to determine effectiveness of the outreach program; determines appropriate return to play of student-athletes and active population. Management of head injuries and concussions; referral to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care; all duties and responsibilities performed under the supervision of a directing physician. Also works collaboratively with the Sports Medicine Team to ensure service excellence for all customers of the athletic training outreach program.

Minimum Job Requirements
Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program.
Certification / License: Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC). Currently licensed or eligible for a State of applicable state License in Athletic Training within 30 days of hire. Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 days of hire.
Work Experience: Experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer is preferred and must be able to work independently.
