Conducts screening and assessments to individuals seeking Safe Parking services at 40 Prado Homeless Services Center. Partners with outreach teams to provide needed outreach to the unhoused community - linking them with both shelter and housing resources. Works closely with staff to provide input and guidance regarding screening, assessment and subsequent referrals. Coordinates and initiates services with other public and private agencies providing services to the homeless population.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:
• Has a Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma, or 2 years of experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Has knowledge of community resources in San Luis Obispo County.
• Valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required.
As an Outreach & Engagement Specialist you will:
• Conducts check-in and check-out procedures at safe parking locations, including participant intakes, screenings, and communication of rule violations.
• Monitors safe parking sites for safety, cleanliness, and rule compliance, coordinating with partners to address issues promptly.
• Assists case managers in outreach, screens and assigns clients for Safe Parking services, and tracks client assignments.
• Helps participants access services such as car repair and job training when appropriate.
• Ensures accurate data entry into Client Track, Safe Parking spreadsheet, HMIS, and other databases.
• Coordinates services with Outreach Case Managers and the Housing Programs team, assessing participants for barriers and creating care plans to achieve housing stability.
• Attends weekly case conference meetings, team meetings, trainings, and public meetings as needed.
• Participates in quarterly CEP meetings with community partners, provides CEP assessments, and assists participants in navigating resources.
• Provides relevant referrals to agencies and service providers based on mutually agreed-upon client goals.
• Maintains professional relationships with clients, monitors compliance, provides consistent limits and expectations, and ensures confidentiality.
• Collects data as needed.
• Commits to the goals and philosophy of Homeless Services programs and CAPSLO.
• Adheres to all applicable safety rules and practices to ensure maximum safety for oneself, colleagues, clients, and children.
