Europe PMC is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Outreach and Engagement Officer to join the Literature Services team at EMBL-EBI. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in connecting the global research community with one of the world’s leading open science resources.
Europe PMC provides free and open access to over 47 million research outputs, including abstracts, full text, and preprints, enriched with links to data, reviews, protocols, and other resources. Europe PMC’s trusted open-access content and metadata are accessed through its website, APIs, bulk downloads and text-mining services, and reused in downstream tools, including AI-enabled applications. Supported by 35 international funders, it serves as a core infrastructure for open science and a trusted source of literature for millions of users worldwide.
The way the community discovers and uses literature is rapidly changing, with AI tools, programmatic access, and text mining becoming increasingly common. This role will support efforts to engage both existing and new users, helping ensure Europe PMC remains visible and relevant in these evolving workflows.
This will involve a variety of activities, including building collaborative relationships with aligned organisations, social media campaigns, written content, creating and delivering training, and attending meetings and events. You will also be expected to stay up-to-date with Open Science initiatives and how AI is changing the research lifecycle and the use of resources such as Europe PMC.
As Outreach and Engagement Officer you will drive engagement with key user groups, including researchers, developers, and text and data miners. You’ll work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including collaborators, partner organisations, and colleagues across EMBL-EBI. You will need to form collaborative partnerships with other service providers, publishers, institutions and open science advocacy groups.
You will work closely with the Funder Liaison Officer to align communication efforts with our funders.
You will have the benefit of working on a fantastic campus with excellent facilities, within an international team.
