The Outpatient Pharmacist – PRN provides comprehensive pharmacy services within the outpatient pharmacy at Tradition Hospital, supporting patients through medication dispensing, prescription fulfillment, and transitions of care. Responsibilities include verifying and dispensing prescriptions, reviewing medication orders for accuracy and safety, counseling patients on proper medication use, and collaborating with providers and pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient pharmacy operations. The pharmacist also supports bedside medication delivery and discharge prescription services, helping patients receive timely access to medications while promoting safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work various shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm and will support PTO coverage. No holiday or weekends expected.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide pharmacy services and ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services.
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to medication safety initiatives.
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
  • Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in Florida within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations within 90 days of hire, for those administering immunizations

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area
  • Board Certification

Physical Requirements

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
