The wound care specialists at Cleveland Clinic in Florida can help if you have a wound thatwon’theal. Nonhealing or chronic wounds are those thatdon’timprove after four weeks of treatment and are often painful. Prompt treatment is key to preventing potentially life-threatening infections. We offer advanced diagnostic tests and the latest treatments for all types of nonhealing wounds.As an Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant on theWound Careteam, you willassistin the provision of care and treatment to patients in need of wound care under the direction of an RNor physicianThis role will allow you tomaintainpersonal growth and development through theon-goingprocess of formal and informal education.

A caregiver in this position worksdays from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.Flexibility with start time isrequired

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Obtain vital signs,heightand weight as directed.

  • Collect patient specimens and prepare specimens appropriately for transport to labs.

  • Prepare patients for exams, tests and special procedures andassistwith exams and treatments as applicable.

  • Complete the rooming process, including review of medications, updating allergies,identifyingpainleveland asking regulatory screening questions.

  • Identify,documentand report changes to an RN and or MD.

  • Assistwith indirect patient care.

  • Perform patient treatments as directed, including applying heat or cold, simple sterile dressing changes and measuring, applying,changingand removing casts,bracesand splints.

  • Repair casts and apply and instruct patients in the use of DME.

  • Remove dressings, sutures, & staples.

  • Stock supplies and linens as applicable.

  • Clean and restock dressing supply carts, check emergencycartsand empty needle boxes usingappropriate safetymeasures.

  • Assistin regulatory and safety monitoring and compliance audits as directed.

  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures asrequired

  • Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, dataentryand patient registration.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • HighSchoolDiploma or GED

  • Understanding of human anatomy, basic patient careactivitiesand math

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossupon hire or within new hire period

  • One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory, homecare, assisted living, nursing home or long-term care setting

  • Additionalformal training/education maysubstitutesome orall ofthe required experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Proficientin the use of an electronic medical record

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
